Syren General Store is located in The Shops at the Lodge across from Crooked Lake Park on State Roads 35/70 and Park Street West in Siren, Wisconsin. We named our store using the original spelling of the town from the 1890's. Our first postmaster named the town Syren (Swedish for lilac). When the name was submitted to the U.S. Postal Service it was not recognized as an English spelling and was changed to Siren, so the story goes.
The Shops initially opened in May of 2000. The Tornado that devastated Siren and surrounding areas on the evening of June 18, 2001, took down the original building. When we had the opportunity to rebuild, we expanded to allow for more businesses. The new building opened in April 2002.
The Shops now houses Syren General Store; Silly Bird Canteen - coffee, ice cream, baked goods, sandwiches; Nouveau Salon & Day Spa; and Making Memories & More - a scrapbooking store; Todd Cutler - Images in Nature Gallery. Nearby, we have Adventures Restaurant, Pub & Catering, The Lodge at Crooked Lake, Moose Mulligan's adventure-style mini-golf, Subway, Timbers Theatres, The Lodge Center Arena and beautiful Crooked Lake Park.
We are proud of all that Siren and the surrounding area has to offer: the Gandy Dancer Recreational Trail (great for biking & walking in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter), multiple nature, wildlife & birding areas, lakes, arts, lodging, shopping & more.
